Hello There. So Nice to Meet You.

I began my career journey as a registered dietitian but as the years rolled on I found myself wanting to dig deeper into the big picture with my clients and to look further than what was on their dinner plate.

I discovered that food is intricately connected not only to our physical health but our mental health as well, and the psychology surrounding it is fascinating. This led to courses in the psychology of eating, transformational life coaching, positive psychology certification, and finally to psychotherapy and becoming a registered psychotherapist (qualifying). I am now studying intuitive eating to help those battling binge eating disorder and emotional eating.

Privately, my story is like many others, with a history of childhood trauma that left me unsure of who I was and who I wanted to be. I was stuck for more years than I wish to remember, plagued with anxiety, depression and fear. I watched in grief as others reached life’s milestones and lived the life I thought I always would.

I myself have been in therapy at many points in my life, which has helped me to add a different narrative to my life, one that begins with this new career. It is a story that includes the grief, the disappointment and the bittersweet moments of the past, but moves forward into hope, love, courage, acceptance, and perhaps most importantly, using my hard-won strengths to help other women who are struggling with emotional or stress eating.

And lastly, to rebuild my career, my relationships and my future so that when the time comes to leave the planet I can look back with satisfaction and a smile. Cornball? Perhaps. But isn’t that all any of us can ask for?

Some of my Favourite Things: my guy, my bed, my cats, baking, Pilates, continuing education, connections, Cheetos Crunchits, psychology, the ocean, growing my own food, my friends, writing, reading, and watching terrible cheesy disaster movies.

“Feet on ground
Heart in hand
Facing forward
Be yourself

Just be yourself…”
